WELCA

WELCA (Women of the ELCA)

Our congregation proudly supports WELCA. WELCA is a women's organization within the ELCA. As a community of women created in the image of God, called to discipleship in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to grow in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our callings, engage in ministry and action, and promote healing and wholeness in the church, the society, and the world. - See more at: http://www.womenoftheelca.org.

ALL women of the congregation are welcome to participate in the meetings and programs throughout the year.

We have 1 active circle group.
*Lydia Circle meets on: 3rd Saturday of each month at 12 noon in Lounge at ROA.

Our WELCA Women have several projects that they support throughout the year. These projects include:

Pop Tabs:
The aluminum pop tabs on the cans of various items such as soda are collected all year long. They are then donated to the Ronald McDonald House which provides loving and compassionate care to children and their families as they are dealing with significant and prolonged health issues.

Soap Collection:
We collect new bars of soap which are donated to programs and given to those in need to improve health issues.

Operation Christmas Child:
Members fill dozen of shoe boxes with toys and items for children. These boxes are then shipped to children around the world and given to them during the Christmas Season to remind them that Jesus loves them.

"I was hungry , and you gave me something to eat. I was thirsty. and you gave me something to drink. I was a stranger, and you took me into your home. I needed clothes, and you gave me something to wear. I was sick and you took care of me. I was in prison and you visited me"....Jesus will answer them, 'I can guarantee this truth: Whatever you did for one of my brothers or sisters no matter how unimportant they seemed, you did for me.'
